I would really like to have someone offerĪ permanent fix to this issue, not just a workaround, perhaps a patch with Windows update. I realize Windows 8 is now out and am not sure if they've fixed the issue in this release, but the reality is that corporate environments will continue using Windows 7 for quite some time before moving to Windows 8. It seems Microsoft has seen the question asked many times with many variations of replies from Microsoft staff sending people on a wild goose chase to change permissions, disable certain features and add-ins, and save it again as a different file name. I don't know of many corporate environments that would be willing to disable that feature, including mine.
People don't save as often as they should. This is not the best case scenario for obvious reasons. The simple answer would be toĭisable the autosave feature. If I delete the temp file (hidden file preceded by a tilde~), saves start working properly. The only thing I have noticed is that Office's autosave feature creates a temp file in the same directory the file was opened from. It is not consistent and saves are sometimes successful/sometimes not. My home environment is basically the same, Windows 7 圆4, Office 2010. Our environment is corporate, affected users 50-60%.
Then it can be saved back as the original file name. If not, saving it as a different file name works. Or to a network drive, the error persists. It doesn't matter whether it is locally saved When a Word document is opened and edited, then saved, a file permission error results not allowing the save. There have been numerous posts about this, but I hope I may be adding new information that may help.
